I just went through my book collection, I guess my small library, and typed out the titles in a list on my computer. I’ve discovered that I’ve been underestimating how many books I have yet to read. I have 116 unread books. I guess I was a bit overzealous when I bought books over the past few years in Japan. You see, sometimes it’s difficult to find books in English in Japan. There are a handful of big bookstores that sell them, and I can never be sure if they’ll have more copies if they sell what they have. Therefore, I often bought more books than I needed. This creates a bit of a problem for me. What do I read next? I thought I’d ask you. I’m going to list 7 books I’m considering, then I’d like you to vote on which one I should read.
I just completed Terry Brooks’ “Running with the Demon” and am currently reading “2001: A Space Odyssey” by Arthur C. Clarke. Sometimes I like to read a complete series, if it’s short. Other times, I mix it up. So, what should I read next?

Oh – The Wheel of Time! It takes a while to get into it (about 3 or 4 chapters) but then you’e HOOKED. I read, and reread these books every year!

So far, it’s in the lead. Do you read all of the books several times?

Yes…all the time. (well, except lately, but I’ve only got a few more months of school books left)

Well, my problem is that sometimes it takes me 6 months to read a book. I find I’m either busy or I end up doing something other than reading. I’m planning to change that and read as much as I can. The Wheel of Time will take a long time! I have up to book 12.

Seriously, you’ve not read H2G2 yet? You’re a very lucky man, if so. I know it’s a cliche, but it’s true. Reading them for the first time is glorious (also short).
Pratchett is possibly the only other genre writer who can really match Douglas Adams for humour. If you’re reading him in publication order and still haven’t got to Guards Guards yet then you’ve got loads to go. Again, lucky, lucky man.
Endymion is much harder sci-fi, if you like that. Though personally I’d like you to go for the Wheel of Time as well, because it’s always looked interesting to me. I haven’t read it though, so you’d be interested in your thought, but couldn’t honestly recommend it.

Yeah. I just never got around to it. I have the entire series in one book. So I’ll read it all in one go.
“Guards Guards” is the next of Terry Pratchett’s I have to read. I’ve been reading Discworld in publication order. Guess I’m lucky?
I’ve already read “Hyperion” and “The Fall of Hyperion.” I like hard sci-fi in general.
Thanks for the vote! Now I have 2 books neck and neck.

Think I screwed up my last comment. Short answer – Douglas Adams.
