Out, Damned Poll! Out, I say!

Yes, the Shakespeare poll has been closed and if you’ve noticed the title of this post, the winner is Macbeth!  It will now go in my blank spot for my reading order.  So, the updated order is:

  1. A Game of Thrones – George R.R. Martin (Currently reading, almost finished)
  2. Ender’s Game – Orson Scott Card
  3. Gardens of the Moon – Steven Erikson
  4. Revelation Space – Alastair Reynolds
  5. Guards Guards – Terry Pratchett
  6. The Reality Dysfunction Part 1: Emergence – Peter F. Hamilton
  7. The Silmarillion – J.R.R. Tolkien
  8. Dune – Frank Herbert
  9. His Majesty’s Dragon – Naomi Novik
  10. The Restaurant at the End of the Universe – Douglas Adams
  11. Macbeth – William Shakespeare
  12. Ringworld – Larry Niven

  1. The only one on your list I am attempting to read at the moment is Dune. The other ones I’m looking at next are the Dark Tower series. Hopefully before the tv show/movie is produced.

  2. I’ve read a number of those books. I even had the pleasure of teaching Ender’s Game to some very bright Freshman. That’s a good choice – complex – but a really good choice.

I’ll have to check out “His Majesty’s Dragon” – I haven’t heard of that one before, but the title is intriguing.

    1. Ender’s Game is the next book I’m reading, so I’ll be seeing what you mean. You teach? High school? University?

His Majesty’s Dragon is the first of a series of books by Naomi Novik based in the Napoleonic wars, except there are dragons. Historical fiction meets fantasy.

      1. High School. I *might* one day be able to do it at the University level. Once I go through some more training and whatnot. 🙂

I’m going to have to check out that series then. I’ve read some of Naomi’s other works (unless my brain is messing with my memory now) and that sounds like an interesting concept.
