My Favourite Quote? Uh…

I’ve never been asked this yet, but I have thought about it.  What is your favourite quote?  I can’t really answer that, because I’m not really interested in keeping track of quotes I read in books.  I’ve read some really good lines in books, but I usually don’t commit them to memory.

On the other hand, movie quotes stick in my mind occasionally, but many of them are absurd ones.

“It’s not a toomaa!” – Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kindergarten Cop

“Oh my.” – George Takei, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

“Oh shit!” – Brent Spiner, Star Trek Generations

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” – Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

“KHAN!” – William Shatner, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

“I think he did a little too much LDS.” – William Shatner, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

Maybe too many Star Trek quotes?

I actually prefer some of my own quotes, though not perfected.

Who’d have thought Mars, a planet named after the god of war, would be the most peaceful place in the Solar System? – Paolo Fernandes, flash fiction for online writing course.

“Why sixteen to twenty-one? We are old enough to understand the affairs of the world, and young enough so our minds are not hardened into prejudice.  Our thoughts and ideas are fresh and unsullied by the worries of age.” – Unnamed character from a future Ariadne book, answering why her profession is limited to such a narrow age range.

Do you pay attention to quotes?  What are some of your favourites?
