The response to my post on the United States was phenomenal. 75 comments and many great answers. I could see a common theme in many of the answers, so many people agreed with each other.
We’re going to check out another country now. Moving on down the list, with 1,855 views in 2014 is Canada! My home country. Around 10% of the total views in 2014 were from people in Canada. So, I need all of your Canadians’ help. If you live in Canada, are Canadian, or have visited Canada, please answer the questions later in this post. I want your opinions!
Canada is a very large country, the second largest in the world with 9,984,670 square kilometres, including a huge number of islands, the world’s longest coastline, and more lakes than any other country in the world combined. It has a population of 35,675,834, which is 37th in the world. The capital city is Ottawa, and the largest city is Toronto, with a population of 2,615,060 (5,583,064 metro). English is the most common language, followed by French. Both English and French are official languages. Canada became independent from the United Kingdom on July 1, 1867. The leader of the country is the Prime Minister (currently Stephen Harper), and the government is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy. That means Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state.
Canada is a huge country with vast natural landscapes, so it’s incredibly difficult to see everything. Each region has its own cultural identities, although it is also very multicultural. So, if you are Canadian, have lived in Canada, or visited Canada, then please give your opinion on these questions:
- What places would you say are the best to visit?
- What would you say is the truly Canadian food?
- What is a truly Canadian activity, sport, or pastime?
- For the readers out there, who is/was the greatest (or your favourite) Canadian author?
Thank you! If you can, please share this. I’d like to get as many great answers as I can. And I will not apologise for using British spelling.
