I regret to inform you that Authors Answer is delayed. Yesterday, my wife’s computer crashed and was unable to start. The hard drive is corrupt. So, we got some data recovery software and a USB cable to recover important data. My computer is currently busy doing that task, and it’ll take several hours. It’ll likely be finished after midnight. So, Authors Answer will be delayed a day at most.
April was an interesting month, both successful and a bit of a disappointment. Successful because I completed the A to Z Challenge. However, the stats were down. In fact, it was the slowest month this year, partly because I posted fewer times (still met the twice a day target), and I got backlogged in replying to comments. I also visited fewer blogs. I was just busy. There are now 869 followers, an increase of 46.
April was bowl-shaped. It started out high, had a lull in the middle of the month, then recovered at the end. It failed to maintain the 100 views per day average for the first time since December. 10 out of 30 days reached 100 views, with one over 200. The busiest day was April 10 with 201 views. There were 2,818 views in April, making it the lowest in 2015, but the 7th month in a row to achieve 2,000. The total views at the end of the month were 38,487. There were 62 posts, bringing the total to 993.
The month ended with 6,192 comments, 541 coming in April.
The top 10 countries were:
- United States (1,867 views)
- Canada (249 views)
- United Kingdom (183 views)
- Japan (140 views)
- Australia (52 views)
- India (31 views)
- Norway (25 views)
- Singapore (22 views)
- France (17 views)
- Philippines (16 views)
The top 5 most popular posts made in April were:
- Life in Japan (70 views)
- Life in Japan: Least Favourite Thing (55 views)
- Authors Answer 22 – Writing Apocalypse (47 views)
- Authors Answer 24 – Brushing up on Grammar (42 views)
- Living in Japan: Favourite Thing (42 views)
My most popular post written before April was my always popularwith 481 views. This is down for the first time.
Posts I think deserve more attention (this means you should read them!):
I was so busy with the A to Z Challenge that I didn’t get a single review up. I still have to write two reviews, and I’ll get those up in the next few days now that I’m free from the challenge.
On Twitter, I have 2,612 followers, which is an increase of 32. I follow 2,600, which is up by 45. I finished with 6,848 tweets, with 91 coming in April.
On YouTube, I got only 1 video up in April. I have 37 subscribers, a decrease of 1. The month ended with 7,668 views, which is a small increase of 134. Definitely need more videos.
Looking Ahead to May
Now that the A to Z Challenge is over, I can get back to posting regularly. That means more content. Of course, I will continue writing Journey to Ariadne, and with the success of the challenge, I think I’ll be writing at a faster pace.
Things to look forward to this month are a couple reviews, some posts on worldbuilding, and achieving the big 1,000 posts.
As for worldbuilding, the challenge has allowed me to show you more of Ariadne. For this, I created two kinds of plants. It’s got me in the building mood, so I hope to have plenty more to come soon.
May should be a bigger month. Look forward to it!
