So, I was reading through my WordPress Reader feed, checking out all the blog posts that interested me, and I quickly went by one that did something I really, really dislike. It told me the outcome of a character from a popular novel and TV series. Excuse me while I vent.
Why?! Damn damn damn damn! I wanted to find out while I was reading the book! I didn’t want a blog post’s headline to tell me who lived and who died! I’ve seen a news article do the same thing, and they had to apologise for it. So many angry people who lived on the other side of the world and wouldn’t get that episode a few hours or a few days after. Now I read a blog headline that spoiled it for me. Damn it!
I really, really hate spoilers. The blog post and the news article both spoiled Game of Thrones for me. As for the news article, it happened to be talking about the TV show, but the book that it happened in was the one I was reading at the time. I read that very scene a few days later. I knew what was going to happen, so it didn’t give the same kind of impact as it would’ve if I hadn’t seen the spoiler. And now, this new spoiler is still a couple books away for me. Sigh.
I Read Encyclopedias for Fun 
I feel your pain! I’m reading A Storm of Swords at the moment and have held off watching the just-finished season of GOT because I want to read the events first (in A Feast For Crows). I’m a slow reader, so if I watched the show first I’d know most of the big things that happen and have no drive to read the book.
Exactly how I feel. I need to read the books. I finished A Storm of Swords last year, and have yet to read the next one. I don’t want any of it spoiled.
I apologize for that WP blogger. I hate reading spoilers when I’m not expecting them. I don’t remember the last time a book/movie was spoiled for me so I’m thankful it doesn’t happen often.
It doesn’t happen often for me, either. I actively avoid those kinds of things.
I can understand your pain, the very same thing happened to me several days before. after some days of regret and agony i found that there is nothing we can do a thing about it except to move on and expect that there is another enormous twist waiting for us,
Meanwhile, I must avoid Game of Thrones articles completely. Don’t need all the twists spoiled.
It isn’t Game of Thrones, but I remember having the ending of the fifth Harry Potter book spoiled for me be a friend. I was so mad I threw the book at them. It really sucks, especially if it’s a story you’re really enjoying.
Thankfully, I’ve never had a friend spoil something for me, thankfully.
