Hyperion, The Expanse, and More Coming to TV!

So, it appears that there are four science fiction novels that are becoming TV series! Two are coming this December on SyFy, while the other two are in development. And I have to say that one of these has me excited.

Already, we have Game of Thrones and The Shannara Chronicles being made for TV in the fantasy genre. I am incredibly excited to see Shannara. I’ve already read the books, so I have no problem watching it.

The two shows coming out in December are based on Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End and S. A. Corey’s The Expanse series. I’m very interested in The Expanse, but I really need to read the books first. I don’t watch movies and TV series I haven’t read the books for yet. Don’t ask me why. I’m just like that.

The shows that SyFy is currently developing also have me interested. First is Frederick Pohl’s Gateway, which I have not read, but am interested in reading. It’s a Hugo and Nebula Award winning novel. The other is Dan Simmons’ Hyperion. That has me extremely excited. I loved the series, and I really would like to see how it’s done. It’s a very violent series filled with sex and graphic deaths, so I really wonder what they’ll do.

Unfortunately, I could not watch the trailers for Childhood’s End and The Expanse, because SyFy has made them unavailable to be viewed in Japan. Not happy about that, but it may be a copyright issue. I won’t link to any other videos, since they’d probably be promptly taken down after a DMCA takedown notice.

What are you looking forward to seeing?
