Let me update you on what’s been going on. You may have noticed that I stopped the A to Z Challenge, as well as a lack of posts other than Authors Answer. And the last one wasn’t even posted! Well, a lot has happened.
Early this month, I caught a cold that completely stole my energy. I still cough because of it, so it’s not completely gone. At the same time, I lost my appetite, and often felt sick to the stomach. I couldn’t eat a full meal for two weeks. I’m glad that’s over. But that’s not all!
Since April 14, I’ve been working every day. Today was my last day (ten days in a row) during this stretch. I was working more than 8 hours a day, as well. And the work I was doing was very physical. I came home exhausted and sore. I tried working on Authors Answer two days ago, but I was just so tired I couldn’t focus on it.
Now that this is over, and I have some time off, I’ll be back to the blog! Don’t worry about Authors Answer. It will be posted today. The first time in 129 weeks I missed posting on schedule. I’ll also continue with the A to Z Challenge and complete it, although not on schedule. I’m hoping to get the remaining 22 videos and posts done within the next couple weeks.
And you know what? I missed this month’s Commentition!
So, that’s what’s been happening. Expect a lot of things to happen.
It’s no secret I’ve had little luck with writing lately. I’m not going to repeat the reasons here. But I have learned a few things while I haven’t been writing much.
Stories keep piling up.
I keep thinking about different story ideas. And they don’t stop. They’re in my mind, and they keep multiplying.
Taking other creative avenues.
I’m still remaining creative. My creativity has moved largely to YouTube. With my new science channel, I’ve been working a lot more on the editing and trying to make it look better.
I’m not reading more.
I’m writing less, but I’m not reading more. My reading seems to suffer when I don’t write. Why would that be?
Being busy doesn’t help.
I’ve been busy in many ways. This really doesn’t help my writing. If my days were simpler, I’d be able to write a lot more. But life isn’t simple.
While I may not be writing much, I’m still thinking about the books I want to write. And I want to write many.
I’ve completely fallen off my regular video-posting schedule. This week is the second week in a row that I’m not uploading my regular Friday and Saturday videos. You see, I’m taking a little holiday.
After two weeks of working longer hours while still maintaining a five to six video per week schedule, I decided I’m a bit tired and I deserve a bit of time to just relax and enjoy myself. As a result, I’m posting fewer videos, and I won’t even be recording another video until this Sunday. I have two more videos to post this week, but one was recorded two days ago, and the other was recorded in 2015!
I was planning on doing a couple of channel trailers this week, but decided to put them off until next week. I want to do one of them outside, but it’s been incredibly cold and windy this week. I need warmer weather, which is actually going to happen next week. I’m trying to be a bit creative with these trailers, so I hope you enjoy them.
So, what have I been doing during my little “vacation” from videos? Playing NHL 17, doing homework with my daughter, and playing games with my daughter. There’s going to be some cleaning and organising going on the rest of this week, as well.
I’m expecting next week to be back to normal.
It’s already half way through the second last week of the year. I just finished three days of work with a Christmas concert at my daughter’s school. She sang a couple of songs with her Kindergarten class, but spent half the time looking behind her at the screen. But it was fun.
My next five days, I have no work. The next four days I’ll have a lot of down time to be able to work on many things, including my blog, videos, and reviews. After that, it’s Christmas! And that is a day I’m really looking forward to. The best part is watching my daughter open her presents. We still have to wrap all the presents, though.
After that, I go back to work, and I’ll be busier than usual. Longer hours and an extremely busy workplace. December 26th may be one of the busiest days I’ve ever experienced. There are some things I might not be able to do very much of, and that’s make videos. Blog posts should continue as usual, though.
But I’m really looking forward to getting a blog post and video up on Christmas Day. They’ll actually be done before then, but will be scheduled to go up. I hope you’ll be looking forward to them.
What’s the rest of the year like for you?
You must be wondering where all the videos I said I’d be recording are. Well, they’re on my computer, ready to be edited. I just haven’t had the time to do it.
At the moment, my wife is out with a friend while I’m taking care of my daughter. She’s downstairs in my in-laws’ house drawing Pretty Cure pictures. I’m taking a brief moment to save the videos onto my computer, then do this and go back down to my daughter.
And now she’s talking. I better go.
From now on, I’m going to be pretty busy for the next couple of weeks. Twice, we’ll be going out of town to visit relatives. Both times will be overnight trips. But no need to worry, I’ll still be posting twice a day. That’s what’s nice about having a WordPress app on my phone. I can blog from anywhere.
January 1st is going to be very busy, and I won’t have any time to post Authors Answer myself, so I’ll be scheduling it for that day. I’ll be writing it up a couple days before and have it post automatically. The one for Christmas will go up as normal, since we’ll be home.
I’ll still be working some days, while others have off. But I’ll be busy, mostly because of travel, eating and drinking with family, and occupying my daughter’s time (or she’s occupying my time). I’m wondering what to do for the Monthly Review. I can’t do it on time, so it’ll be late. I also can’t do the Weekly Review on January 2nd. I’ll have a big one on the 9th, then.
I also have a big idea for the new year, so expect something interesting after the holidays.
Are you busy over the next couple weeks?
It’s that time of year soon, November. That means National Novel Writing Month! I’ve attempted it in the past, but have never completed it. This year, I’m not even going to try to attempt it.
Two years ago, I started it, but I stuck with it for only about a week. The reason I quit is because I couldn’t keep up with it while I had little free time with a young child at home.
A year ago, I started it, but I stuck with it for only a couple days. I basically made no attempt to even finish it. Why? Because of my daughter again. I just couldn’t find the time to do it.
This year, I’m not going to even join. I have even less time now because of both my daughter, who refuses to go to bed at a decent time, and because of our pending move to Canada. I can’t focus on it, really.
Next year, maybe. I might actually get to do it.
