I am not dead! But I feel like I’ve mostly disappeared from a lot of social media, though I do talk on Twitter and Facebook regularly. I have news, though. And this is something I’ve been hoping for since returning to Canada from Japan.
I won’t be mysterious about this. I’ve returned to teaching English! I taught English for 11 years in Japan, and now I’m starting again in Canada. The focus is on business people this time, and I’ll have to help develop a lot of the curriculum, so it’s going to be an interesting challenge.
Due to the hours of this job, I have less opportunity to record videos, unfortunately. And since I got a new car last month, my commute isn’t a one hour bus ride. Unfortunately, I get less time for reading, because I often read on my commute. I’ll figure out ways to get reading in, and I might do it during lunch breaks.
I still have so much I want to do: write, read, make videos. I’ll find the time for them all. And this blog, too. When I was living in Japan, this was my big project. This was my baby (other than my daughter). I devoted a lot of time on this blog, and there is absolutely no way I would let it die. While I’m settling into my new job, I’ll probably be busy with preparations, but once everything is routine, I’ll have time to get back to everything I enjoy doing. I know I’ve said I’d be back to blogging earlier this year, but I found I was getting tired and unmotivated about so many things. Now, I feel energy again. I’m definitely back, and soon!
I thought I’d show you a bit about my first day of work. I took a video before and after work (I couldn’t show anything from work, of course), and you even get to see a sunrise. Check out the vlog:
Anyone else have a great first day of work? Let me know in the comments below.
I’m really tired tonight. I’m not sure what made me tired, but it was a very busy day.
You see, I had my orientation and training for my new job today. Long commute, but it allows me to read a lot more. That’s good. The training and orientation were a lot of fun. Most relaxing and enjoyable training I’ve ever had. Everyone is very nice and the job looks very fun. I’m looking forward to working and the rest of my training this week and next week. It’s definitely going to be interesting.
But was it the training that made me tired? Maybe it was the bus ride. There was a lot of information, and I still have a lot to read. That could’ve made me tired, too.
I still have two videos to edit and post, as well as another blog post. Time to get busy!
Today, I went to the police. I didn’t see any police officers, though. I went to the police information check office to get my criminal background checked. You see, I start a new job on Monday!
But why do I need to have my background checked? I’ll be working with children, the elderly, and disabled. Since I have a lot of experience with children, that’s no problem.
But that’s not what I want to talk about. I have three days until I start work. So, what will I do? Of course, there’s a lot of work around the house this weekend. But other than that, I want to focus a lot on doing a few things:
- Watch a lot of Star Trek. That means a lot of posts coming about that.
- Work on updating the Authors Answer index.
- Contact some people about a special event coming at the end of October on this blog.
- Play SimCity 4.
- Record as many videos as I can, including a new format for The Star Trek Project.
- Start work on an end card for my videos.
- Start working on new playlists for my channels.
- Start working on updating video descriptions, titles, and tags for search engine optimization.
Is that too much? Anything you’re interested in seeing? Let me know in the comments below!
