Poll: the Sequel

Maybe this is a bit early, but I’m making another “what should I read?” poll.  This time, all of the books are sequels.  I need to read some sequels.  It’ll be a mix of fantasy and science fiction, and I’ll read them in order of popularity from this poll.  So, please vote!

Fantasy poll closed, sci-fi poll opened

I’ve closed the poll on which fantasy books I should read next.  You can see the results here.  So, when I finish reading “The Eye of the World,” I’ll be reading “Endymion” by Dan Simmons.  So, it’ll be like this:

  1. The Eye of the World – Robert Jordan
  2. Endymion – Dan Simmons
  3. A Game of Thrones – George R.R. Martin
  4. ?
  5. Gardens of the Moon – Steven Erikson
  6. ?
  7. Guards Guards – Terry Pratchett
  8. ?
  9. The Silmarillion – J.R.R. Tolkien
  10. ?
  11. His Majesty’s Dragon – Naomi Novik

So, I have some question marks that may be filled by science fiction books, if I have enough votes.  If not, I’ll stick in a classic.  So, here’s what I’d like you to do.  Below is a list of science-fiction books that I have.  Please vote on which one you think I should read first.  Why am I letting other people decide what I read?  Well, if I go with what I want to read, I may not have good variety.  I tend to read through a series without a break.  This way, you help me break that habit, allowing me to read several different authors and their styles.  So, please vote!

Another poll. What should I read?

I’ve decided to ask the public again what I should read next.  Having already read Hitchhiker’s Guide book 1, and more than half way through The Wheel of Time book 1, I still have Endymion to read.  However, I’m looking ahead to after Endymion, and I’d like to know what others think I should read.  At the moment, I’m also reading an ebook, and will be reading another non-fiction book at the same time.

Since Endymion is science fiction, I’d like to read a fantasy book.  So, here are the choices.  Please vote!

What should I read next?

I just went through my book collection, I guess my small library, and typed out the titles in a list on my computer.  I’ve discovered that I’ve been underestimating how many books I have yet to read.  I have 116 unread books.  I guess I was a bit overzealous when I bought books over the past few years in Japan.  You see, sometimes it’s difficult to find books in English in Japan.  There are a handful of big bookstores that sell them, and I can never be sure if they’ll have more copies if they sell what they have.  Therefore, I often bought more books than I needed.  This creates a bit of a problem for me.  What do I read next?  I thought I’d ask you.  I’m going to list 7 books I’m considering, then I’d like you to vote on which one I should read.

I just completed Terry Brooks’ “Running with the Demon” and am currently reading “2001: A Space Odyssey” by Arthur C. Clarke.  Sometimes I like to read a complete series, if it’s short.  Other times, I mix it up.  So, what should I read next?
