The New Design Is Live!

If you’re a regular visitor to this blog, you may notice something different.  I’ve finally changed the theme!

Over the next few days, I’ll be making adjustments, so what you see now may be slightly different later.  I want to reorganise the sidebars, and I may take advantage of feature posts to draw your attention to posts I really want you to read.

I’m finding one thing interesting.  I can set a feature image for every post now.  I doubt I’ll do that, as I want it to look fairly clean.  But who knows?

So, what do you think of the new design?

Major Updates Coming

I’m kind of excited about this.  I’ve finally found a new theme for this blog, and I like how it looks.  It looks more modern than this current one, and it looks very customisable, so that’s a great bonus.  I have holidays coming up starting next week, and I’ll probably do my work on the theme then.

In other update news, I’ll finally be getting a couple more reviews up, and probably a third, as I’m nearly finished one my current books in progress.  Other updates will be cleaning up some of my widgets and menu options, adding some reading challenge pages, and continuing to update my review posts.

As far as writing goes, I’m going to try to do some of it in notebooks during my breaks at work. Not sure how much I’ll get done, but I’ll try.

And now, to wash the dishes, my non-writing project.  Well, it’s not a project, just a job that’ll take a few minutes to do.

Book Review Format to Be Tweaked

I’m going to be making a few improvements here and there on the blog, in addition to the redesign.  One of the main ones is adding more information to the book reviews.

What I intend to add is the following:

  • Book information before the review, including author, series (with book’s number in the series), date of original publication, format read, how I got the book, and my star rating.
  • Book summary from Goodreads (this should also be available on the book jacket).

This should help you get more information from my reviews.  Also, the summary will be helpful for you to be able to get an idea what the book is about without my giving any spoilers.  I’m almost tempted to say something about the story, but I don’t like spoilers, so I don’t want to give them.

Look for these changes soon.

Redesign Opinion

I’m thinking about changing to a new theme that’s cleaner and more attractive than this.  But I have a question, and I’d like your opinion.

Many blogs display only a summary of blog posts, so you can skim through to find what you want to read quickly.  My current theme shows the full posts.  So, I was wondering, what would you prefer?  Summary view or full view (as it currently is)?

Please leave a comment, as well.  I’m curious about what you’d like to see in addition to the above poll.  I’m thinking about having feature posts at the top for recent reviews or other important posts.  Let me know what you think.
