Who Is the Klingon Voq? I Have a Hypothesis

If you’ve been watching Star Trek Discovery, then you know who Voq is. He’s probably the main Klingon character in this series, a Klingon without a house. But he looks different than the others. He has light skin, while all the others have dark skin.

While I was watching episode 4, it suddenly hit me. I believe I have a very good idea who he may be. This may not be the first time we’ve seen him. Below is a video I made explaining who I think he is and my reasoning behind it. The video contains spoilers, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t watch it. Also, below the video, I say who I think Voq is. Again, that could be a spoiler.

If you haven’t watched the video, but want to know who I think Voq is, well, here it is. In the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 2 episode “Blood Oath,” we see original series Klingons Kor, Koloth, and Kang return (this time with the forehead ridges). But they’re hunting a humanoid known as The Albino. He is never referred to as a Klingon, but he looks similar to one. You see, I think Voq may be The Albino. Watch the video to find out why I think this.

What do you think? Do you think I’m right? Or are they different people? Let me know in the comments.

The Slow Month! The Jay Dee Show 39

September is done, and I’m finally doing another video digest. August was VEDA, so I was doing a video every day. But in September, I did fewer videos on my main channel than an entire week in August! Let’s just say that I had a bit of a video-making overload in August, and September was my month to recover. But I was able to make a video for my science channel, too! I did a total of 6 videos on my main channel and 1 on my science channel.

On my main channel, I made mostly Authors Answer videos, but also a couple Star Trek Discovery videos!

First up is Authors Answer #44, all about money! Check it out.

And then came another Authors Answer. But this one is about using real life events to influence writing fiction.

Continuing on with some Japan videos, I visited Meigetsuin, a temple known for its hydrangea. Beautiful place!

And then another Authors Answer, one talking about this blog!

And finally, the two Star Trek Discovery episode reviews. Here’s episode 1:

And episode 2:

Moving on to my science channel, there was a big news story coming from Saturn. Cassini is no more! It’s now burned up in the atmosphere of Saturn. I talked about what happened and looked at some of Cassini’s discoveries.

Coming in the next couple days, I’ll be opening up a new channel! This new channel is all about English. As you may know, I was an English teacher in Japan. I’ve got the itch to teach English again, and I thought, why not make quick lessons on YouTube? So, stay tuned for that!

What did you think of the videos for September? Let me know which ones you liked the most.

Star Trek Discovery Episode Reviews!

Star Trek Discovery has premiered, and I’ve now watched the first two episodes. This has been a controversial series, mainly due to the fact that it’s only available from CBS All Access in the US, CraveTV and Space (broadcast on TV!) in Canada, and Netflix elsewhere. Luckily for me, I can see it on TV and stream it through the Space website.

There have been a lot of people bashing the show, as well. They were saying a lot of things about how it’ll be garbage. Keep in mind that this is before a single episode even aired. The same thing happened before Star Trek: The Next Generation started, and we know how that series went (extremely successful). I’m the kind of person who wants to keep an open mind about the series.

The first two episodes are more like a prologue to the rest of the series. Nothing takes place on the USS Discovery. We have yet to meet most of the cast. It was an interesting start, I’d say. I reviewed the first two episodes, which you can watch below.

Will I continue to watch it? Of course! It is my goal to review every single Star Trek episode and movie. But I already like Star Trek Discovery! And having watched the preview of episode 3, this is looking very interesting indeed.

What did you think of the first two episodes? Do you agree or disagree with my reviews? Let me know in the comments section below.

The Japan Adventure Continues! The Jay Dee Show 38

Only 1 booktube video this past week! But there are 5 videos to show you on 2 channels. The week features my return to the Japan Vlog series from our trip to Japan last month.

On my main channel, I uploaded 4 videos. It includes a booktube announcement, some Star Trek, and more Japan!

The first video is all Star Trek. Last week, the new Star Trek Discovery trailer was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, and I share what I thought about it. Check it out!

Up next is the return of the Japan videos. For this one, I visited Shibuya and Meiji Jingu Shrine with a friend of mine in Tokyo who I’ve known for almost 20 years. Take a look at what we saw.

And then I announced that I’m doing VEDA in August! VEDA is Vlog Every Day in August, and that means I will do a video a day for the month. Find out about my plans for it.

And finally, another Japan video! This time, we spent a night in Yokohama and visited the amusement park Cosmo World with its huge Ferris wheel.

And then, on my family vlog, Tommy and Dad, I had a little talk with my daughter, seeing how well she could pronounce “genetically modified organism.” The results are pretty funny.

What’s in store for this week? Well, of course, VEDA! I’ll also be doing more Japan videos, another Star Trek episode review, and hopefully, some more science.

Which video did you enjoy the most? Let me know in the comments section below.

Sharing the Love! The Jay Dee Show 34

So many positive videos this past week! And my first ever live stream! That was fun. I uploaded a total of 4 videos, all on my main channel. I was planning on doing more videos today, but didn’t have enough time.

So, on my main channel, I talked a lot about some positive stuff and a bit about Star Trek: Discovery. Let’s take a look.

We start off with the big one. The live stream. It’s a Q&A, and I was joined by a few people who watched it as I streamed it live over the internet.

And then, there’s some Star Trek: Discovery news.

I moved on to talking about Harry Potter and why Piers Morgan is wrong about it.

And then I shared my love of booktube with everyone!

Coming up soon are the delayed Authors Answer video, plus a Star Trek video, a new tag appreciating small booktubers, and more!

Let me know what you thought of these videos. Thanks for watching!

Star Trek: Discovery Trailer! The Jay Dee Show 30

Another week gone, and some videos to watch! Not as many as I’d hoped, though. But I think we’ve got some good stuff here. Actually, there were only two videos, one on each channel. But they are both worth watching.

On my main channel, I uploaded one video. And it had to do with Star Trek: Discovery! You see, the first trailer was released, and I had some interesting impressions about it. So, check out my Star Trek: Discovery trailer reaction!

On my science channel, I finally resumed uploading videos. I explained what happened in the past month, but also have a big request. And I want to ask you, too. Is there a science topic or question you’d like me to answer? If so, let me know in the comments section below or on the video. Check it out!

More to come next week. Definitely some Star Trek, a top 5 list about science fiction, Authors Answer, and some science! And a very, very special video that will be up tomorrow. It deserves its own blog post.

Let me know what you thought of these videos in the comments section below. And what did you think about the Star Trek: Discovery trailer, if you saw it?

The Star Trek Project

I’ve been planning on watching Star Trek and reviewing every episode on this blog. Well, it’s going to happen! Netflix Canada now has every Star Trek TV episode available, and I plan to watch them all. But how am I doing to do it?

The Order

I’m going to watch the episodes in order of broadcast. That means I’ll start off with Star Trek, then move on to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine began in the later seasons of TNG, so I’ll be alternating between the two at that time. Same with when Star Trek: Voyager begins. And finally, I’ll do Star Trek: Enterprise. But what about the movies? Well, I’ll do them as well! And I’ll try doing Star Trek: Discovery when it’s on Space here in Canada.

The Reviews

These aren’t going to be full reviews like I do with books. They’re going to be my impression of the episodes, as well as discussing who the enemy is, which planet(s) they went to, and any special guest actors that appeared. I have seen every Star Trek episode, so this will be a lot about nostalgia. I will also be doing a star rating, and out of the five star episodes, I’ll make a ranking for my favourites at the end of each series. However, I will also do a ranking of my least favourites.

Other Series?

I’d like to do the same kind of thing with Doctor Who. That’s the other show I’m a big fan of, though I haven’t watched any of the newer episodes. I’ve only see the old series! Other series I’ll do a general overview of the seasons, rather than an episode-by-episode review. I’m not that dedicated to TV! Though I may do Shannara Chronicles and Game of Thrones like this.

Video Reviews?

While I do reviews on this blog, I may also do reviews on my YouTube channel! But I think I’ll do only a weekly update here, showing you the videos in a single blog post.

So, who’s excited for this? Ready to live Star Trek with me?
