I have an interest in reading some classic authors. I’ve read Shakespeare, Homer, and a limited amount of 19th century literature, but I’d like to read more.
I tried the 99 Classic Books Challenge on List Challenges, and my score was dismal. I’ve only read six of the books. Isn’t that pathetic? There are a couple more in that list that I own, but haven’t read yet.
I need suggestions. I have some questions for you to answer, so please leave them in the comments below.
Which classic author and book do you recommend from the 20th century?
Which classic author and book do you recommend from the 19th century?
How about the 18th century?
11th to 16th century?
1st to 10th century?
1st century BCE and beyond?
If you don’t have an answer for some of these, don’t worry. Leave it blank. I’m looking forward to your answers. Thanks!
I asked these questions before with fantasy, which I still invite you to answer. Like I said before, I love reading fantasy, but I prefer writing science fiction more. However, I still love reading science fiction. So, please answer these questions in the comments:
What’s your favourite science fiction novel?
What’s your favourite science fiction series?
Who’s your favourite science fiction author?
Thanks for answering! I look forward to hearing what you say.
I’m a big fan of reading fantasy novels. I think I like reading them more than science fiction, even though I prefer writing science fiction. But I’d like to know your opinions about fantasy novels. So, please answer these three questions in the comments section:
As you probably know, I’m studying some languages on Duolingo at the moment: French, Spanish, and German. If it had Japanese, I’d definitely be going through that course, too. Eventually, I’d like to study every language that’s on Duolingo.
But I’d like to do a quick survey. If you could choose any three languages to study, which would you like to study? Please select three languages when you vote. These are the currently available languages on Duolingo for English speakers.
Thanks for voting! Please leave a comment below explaining your choices.
As you know, I write book reviews and post them here on this blog. They’re not the most popular thing for people to read, as I think people usually don’t read them unless they’re considering buying or have already read and want to see if the reviewer agrees or disagrees. But that’s just my guess.
So, please respond to this quick survey.
Thanks for voting! Please comment if you have anything to add.
I’m curious about you. I know you’re reading this. I want to know something about you. Not a lot, just one thing. Since this is a blog mainly about writing and books, I’m assuming you’re here because you like books. So, I have a question. Or let’s make it two questions. Here they are.
What’s your favourite genre?
What’s your favourite book?
The first one is probably easier. The second not so easy. I find it difficult to answer myself. Here are my answers.
It’s actually difficult. I like both fantasy and science fiction, but I feel like I’m drawn into epic fantasy far more than any other genre.
How do I answer this? It’s honestly a very difficult question. But if I were to choose, I’d say Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Close behind is Fellowship of the Ring.
Now it’s your turn. Please leave a comment with your answers. In the words of Gandalf the Grey: You shall not refuse!
Oh, he didn’t say that? Well then, in the words of the Borg: Resistance is futile. You must reply.
I’m a fan of epic fantasy series. I enjoy seeing familiar characters going through many challenges and adventures over several books. It requires a lot of time devoted to just one story. There are many epic fantasies that I’ve only scratched the surface of. I know that this question has been asked by many and there are websites with personalised lists of the top epic fantasy series, but I’d like to generate a little discussion here. In your opinion, what is the best epic fantasy series? What gets your heart racing whenever the tension rises? What series has made you wait impatiently for the next part, which you eagerly devoured when you finally got your hands on it? Please leave your comments!
