*taps the mic* Hello?

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I guess you deserve an explanation. To put it simply, the past month has been unusual. Life intervened. Many things happened back to back that were both unexpected and expected. I won’t go into too many details, but this is the tl;dr version:

Emergency hospitalization (not me!), new job, short trip, and new puppy!

The puppy!

Mostly, I’ve had to do a lot of running around, adjusting to a new schedule, and many other things. But I have to say this:

This blog is not ending!

So, what’s going on then? Where’s Authors Answer? There are still three more Authors Answer for October not posted, but they will be. I didn’t announce it publicly, but Authors Answer is on a hiatus until the New Year, as I try to figure out what direction to take it. It’s getting more and more difficult to ask questions. Have they all been asked? No, but they’re very difficult to think of. The final Authors Answer of the year is a big one, though. Look forward to that one!

If you’re a subscriber to my YouTube channel, then you know I’ve been somewhat active there. I haven’t been as consistent as I should be, but that has a lot to do with what’s been going on. I’ve also been in the planning stages of a new series for my science channel, which I hope will be well-received and popular. I’ll update you this weekend on what I’ve posted on YouTube.

I also have an office now! This means I should be able to do some writing in privacy, at least during certain times of the day. I’d like to get a couple short stories out in the coming months while I’m working on Journey to Ariadne and my first novel. Progress!

With all that said, how about you? What have you been up to lately?

Where’s Authors Answer?

You may have noticed that the last three Authors Answer haven’t gone up. Never fear, they will all be up this week! This is going to be a big Authors Answer week, so plenty of answers to read. What happened? Life, generally. I won’t go into details, but a lot happened.

What’s in store for October? Normalcy! Actually, it’ll be Authors Answer’s third anniversary at the end of this month, and if you’ve been following it for a long time, you’ll know what we do for our anniversary questions. Guest authors! I don’t know who’s going to be a guest yet, but I have a lot of people I want to ask. In the past, we’ve had Michael J. Sullivan, Django Wexler, Janny Wurts, Mark Lawrence, and more! I’m hoping for some more authors this month.

Who do you think I should ask? Keep in mind that most books I read are fantasy and science fiction, so I’d be more inclined to ask fantasy and science fiction authors.  Let me know in the comments section below.

Week in Review – July 10, 2017

Well, it’s been two weeks since the last update. My personal life has gotten in the way of posting a bit, as well as doing some more complex videos on YouTube. That and more below!

Reading

I swear, I’ll do it!

Writing

Again, current events have made it difficult for me to concentrate on this much. I hope that things will settle down soon and I can get into a good routine.

Videos

In the last couple weeks, I uploaded 7 videos to my main channel, including a live stream! I’d also like to mention that my subscribers have increased dramatically recently. That is very promising! I also uploaded a video to my family vlog.

Patreon

This has stalled a bit, but I’ll get on it when things have settled down a bit more.

Languages

Nothing recently.

The Blog

I haven’t been posting like I said I would. I was hoping to get back to posting daily, but real life has interfered, and I haven’t been able to do everything I wanted. Maybe next month.

Studying

Nothing.

The Next Week’s Goals

Hoping things will look up this week. I’m planning on doing some more Star Trek blog posts and videos. I have several videos to do, and I’d like to get to work on reading.

Sharing the Love! The Jay Dee Show 34

So many positive videos this past week! And my first ever live stream! That was fun. I uploaded a total of 4 videos, all on my main channel. I was planning on doing more videos today, but didn’t have enough time.

So, on my main channel, I talked a lot about some positive stuff and a bit about Star Trek: Discovery. Let’s take a look.

We start off with the big one. The live stream. It’s a Q&A, and I was joined by a few people who watched it as I streamed it live over the internet.

And then, there’s some Star Trek: Discovery news.

I moved on to talking about Harry Potter and why Piers Morgan is wrong about it.

And then I shared my love of booktube with everyone!

Coming up soon are the delayed Authors Answer video, plus a Star Trek video, a new tag appreciating small booktubers, and more!

Let me know what you thought of these videos. Thanks for watching!

Week in Review – June 26, 2017

Ups and downs would define the past week. What’s positive? Feeling good about some of the things I’m doing for my YouTube channels, and I feel optimistic. What’s negative? Well, things I’d prefer to keep private, although one experience was quite interesting. But how about the blog and other things? Let’s find out.

Reading

I had a dream I was reading. Okay, I’m going to read tonight. I’ll push myself to do it!

Writing

I haven’t felt the desire this past week. Too much going on, and I have way too much on my mind.

Videos

Four videos in the past week! Three were uploaded to my main channel, including a fascinating tag about male booktubers. The other was uploaded to my science channel, which I’m getting back into doing. I have another video to upload soon.

Patreon

As I work more on the science channel, I’ll be doing a lot more on the Patreon page.

Languages

A bit of French done, but not much.

The Blog

Starting catching up on comments. I’ll be doing more to get that done this week. I plan on doing 2 months’ worth of monthly reviews. I still haven’t done May’s. I’ll do it this week before the end of the week.

Studying

Nothing.

The Next Week’s Goals

I have a big video to do this week, and that’s a Q&A for my 1 year anniversary on Booktube. But it’s going to be live streamed! It’ll be done via my phone, so I’ll be trying out mobile streaming for the first time ever. I’m curious about how it’ll do.

I also want to do a lot more Star Trek stuff on YouTube and watching. I need to get the videos caught up. I’ll also start up a Star Trek blog for my reviews and videos.

Why Aren’t There Many Male Booktubers? The Jay Dee Show 33

I did some more frequent video publishing in the past week, but not quite what I used to do. The science videos have returned, as well! I posted 4 videos this week on 2 channels.

On my main channel, I posted a little less than I expected, but I did get 3 videos up! Let’s check them out.

First up is a Japan travel vlog, but it’s more about culture than anything a tourist would see. In fact, unless you’re invited to a funeral, you won’t get to see this! I talk about the 49th day of the traditional Buddhist funeral in Japan.

Next up is a new phenomenon on Booktube. Jayesh Chhaya opened up the topic about male booktubers. Where are they? Why aren’t there as many males booktubing as females? He created the Male Booktuber Tag, and I did it.

I continued my regular Authors Answer series on video with #32, all about writing controversial topics.

On my science channel, I uploaded 1 video, a video I’d recorded way back in April. Yeah, so it’s a bit old. I’m still dressed for cold weather. It’s the continuation of the A to Z Challenge, this time the letter E. It’s all about Jupiter’s moon Europa!

I can’t say how much I’ll be uploading over the next week, as I don’t know what’s going on with my job. It really depends on that. But I will be doing the Q&A for my 1 year anniversary on booktube, and hopefully a new Star Trek video. Definitely more Japan videos, though! And coming in the next day or two (maybe even today) is the next science video. Keep checking back and subscribe to my channels!

Which video did you enjoy? Let me know in the comments section.

Week in Review – June 18, 2017

The first week back from Japan was somewhat productive. I had to get over jet lag, though. It was difficult to go to sleep at night, and difficult to wake up early. My daughter was out very quickly at night, until tonight. Tonight was terrible! She wouldn’t sleep until midnight. Well, that’s done, and now the update!

Reading

Why do I try? I haven’t really had the privacy or the ability to stay awake when I had the privacy.

Writing

Same as reading. No privacy, especially when my daughter’s friends keep ringing the doorbell.

Videos

6 new videos! 5 of them are on my main channel, including 3 videos about our trip to Japan. More to come. But I also revived my family channel, featuring my daughter and I. It’s called Tommy and Dad. I uploaded 1 video there.

Patreon

I did a little work updating some things, but the push will come after I have more science videos out.

Languages

My daughter’s been using Japanese more recently. Does that count?

The Blog

Getting back to regular posts, though I won’t be doing daily posts until July. I’ve been hoping to get back to the Star Trek posts, but wasn’t able to.

Studying

Nothing.

The Next Week’s Goals

A bit of Star Trek, a bunch of videos related to booktube, Japan, and science, and hopefully some reading. But, I have a couple of busy evenings. One night is my daughter’s kindergarten’s magic show. The other night is a world record attempt by my sister’s company. I’m participating in a world record attempt! And free food.
